A dozen dimes!

A twelve game winning streak is what the Dragons achieved on Wednesday night. They achieved it in style, smashing their lesser skilled opponents, the Dim Sims, 61 - 14. The Dragons' win streak is approaching the suspiciously unlucky number 13...however "we aren't even thinking about it when we step out on court. Our immediate task is outscoring our opponents throughout 40 minutes and coming away with the win. We can worry about streaks and all that once we have our second championship." Top Cat Cartwright.

Despite some rued shot attempts, which could've netted the Dragons their biggest ever score (surpassing their previous high of 66 points), the Dragons played an excellent transition game, converting stringent defense into well-executed offense.

Starting with only 4 players, the Dragons were cautious early, against a full strength Dim Sims. However, the arrival of Brook Arrowsmith, with the Dragons leading 10 - 2 early, suggested that their opponents were in for one long night...

A 10 point 1st half burst from Top Cat and DK Kang got the Dragons out to a massive half time lead. The return of Hot Shot Hui's hot hand was also welcome site for the Dragons. Hui was on fire throughout the game from the perimeter, landing multiple long range bombs.

The second half saw much of the same dominance from the Dragons, and was highlighted by some excellent lock down defense from Mehdi Tunak Tunak Spiritual Leader Naseeruddin and Matty the Rocket Fraser. Brooke was her usual self, dominating on both ends of the floor, grabbing rebound after rebound, and scoring whenever she had the ball in close range of the basket. Hadjitello showed his ability to create, and continually found the girls inside for some easy baskets. He was able to combine on multiple occasions with Top Cat, who was on fire en route to a game high 24 points. A comfortable 47 point victory (61 - 14) ensured the Dragons remained top of the ladder after 8 rounds.

This game also marked the handing over of the reigns. Replacing DK Kang as captain for this season (due to DK's overseas commitments in December and January) are new Dragons co-captains Top Cat Cartwright and Matty the Rocket Fraser. Top Cat and Matty were voted in by their peers and will take over team organisation, management, and guidance from DK who did a sterling job during the Dragons' inaugural championship season.

Their first task as co-captains will be helping the Dragons extend their winning streak to 13 games when they take on the Illusions at 6:50pm next week. Court 1. Be there for some highlights, and help cheer the Dragons onto their 13th straight victory!
