A Win for Audrey

In what appeared on paper to be a one-sided match, the 2nd placed Dragons quickly found out that their opposition had come to play. The last placed Ravens did not look like a team who haven't won a game all season, and came out full of run and enthusiasm.

Creating a matchup nightmare for the Dragons, the Ravens played a combination of 3 girls and 2 guys, which upset the Dragons' rotation of 3 guys and 2 girls and created a mismatch inside the key. Despite the Dragons' best efforts to rectify the matchup dilemma, they found themselves trailing at the break 21-11, missing an array of inside and outside shots in the first half.

Hadjitello, the ever-thinking strategist proposed the Dragons' become accountable for each opposition player and play a man-on-man defence throughout the 2nd half, with extended pressure up the court. Results were immediate, with the Dragons starving their opposition of baskets whilst converting on the offensive end.

Staunch defence from the Dominator Malekas and relentless running from Top Cat Cartwright and DK Kang allowed the Dragons to capitalise on multiple fast break opportunities, leading to relatively easy baskets.

Multiple interceptions from the speedy Chin Po-Po Phoa and Snoop Dogg Mahendran allowed the Cougar Shankar to find touch from the perimiter and put the Dragons within one point with 5 minutes to go.

The comeback was almost complete, but not before some excellent running by DK Kang to finish off a fast break with style, which put the Dragons up 3 with 15 seconds to go, capping off a sensational fighting comeback, which saw our opponents, the Ravens, score only 4 points (2 baskets) in the 2nd half.

The win capped off an exciting week, which saw the birth of Matty The Rocket Fraser's daughter, Audrey. "It was awesome to get the win, and especially good to do it for Matty" - Hadjitello!
