Back on Track!!
An undermanned and unfamiliar Dragons outfit could not deter them from getting back on track last night against the lowly Greffen Bandits.
From the outset, the Dragons knew they would be in for a long, however successful night, as they immediately jumped out of the blocks and ambushed their relatively inexperienced and mistake prone opponents, proving that they belong in the top 4.
The half time scoreline saw the Dragons up 16-0 in a display which saw super defense from AK47 and Matty Saines, and some flashy brilliance from Chenaldo Chenny Chen and DK Kang in offense. Had the Dragons been on song with their shooting, the margin would have been greater. "It's frustrating sometimes, you get open looks and then you rush your shot and miss" - Hadjitello describing his frustration over his shooting woes in the first half.
Knowing the game was all but won, the Dragons held firm in the second half, slowing the tempo and going basket for basket with their opponents, eventually running out 27-13 winners.
Some excellent running by DK and top rebounding by AK 47 allowed the depleted Dragons, playing without Top Cat Cartwright, Brooke Steve Tyler Arrowsmith and Hot Shot Hui, to stay comfortably ahead throughout the 2nd half and assert themselves in their first game of the second half of the season.
We are currently second on the ladder, with 1st through to 5th separated by less than one game and percentage.
Many thanks to John Cotton for coming and showing his support for the Dragons. Next weeks' game sees us pitted against the Ravens at 6pm - a nice early timeslot for those that want to drop by after work.
