Dragons hold on to make it 3 wins in a row
"It finally all came together for me. I felt confident and hit my shots...I felt like the team could rely on me offensively, as I was in a mini groove on the shooting end" - Hadjitello
Playing without their captain DK Kang (snowed under with work), the Dragons' needed an offensive boost from Hadjitello, who indeed provided one.
The Dragons also welcomed newcomer "AB" Alison Bonnici, who put her regular Wednesday night duties (netball) on hold for a stint with the Deloitte Dragons. Her impact was immediate, as she was rebounding, stealing and even scoring!!
The Dragons' outside game was led well by Hadjitello, connecting on a few long range and mid range jumpshots, which resulted from excellent defense and transition from Chenny and Matty the Rocket Fraser.
As usual, Top Cat filled the scoresheet with her array of multiple mouth-watering baseline drives, and Brooke Arrowsmith was a rebound king...errr....Queen, ensuring the Dragons had first hands on the ball in defense and also had multiple second chance opportunities in offense.
In a closely contested game, in which the biggest margin between the two teams was only 5 points, the Dragons showed their mettle and composure to convert at critical times and maintain control in offense, starving our opponents of possession for the last minute of the game. The final margin being 2 points (29 - 27) in the Dragons' favour
Next week sees the Dragons embark on a tough run to the finals, as we take on the Dukes, who are just outside the top 4 and looking at making a run of their own. The game is sure to be tight, gritty and full of highlights as the Dragons look to re-assert themselves as one of the league's elite teams.
Game time is 8:30! See you there!
