Game 7 vs. Trash Bags

Game 7 - The Deloitte Dragons vs. the Trash Bags. Unlike previous encounters, the 3rd ranked team put the Dragons to the test. With only a point separating the two teams the entire game, the match proved to be a real nail biter!

Tiff C consistently dominated in the key displaying fine shooting and rebounding skills. Ben “Hot Shot” Hui lived up to his name by delivering yet another impressive performance despite playing on with a corked thigh. Big Fella Boydy and Matt “The Rocket” Fraser providing much needed hustle and maintaining the high tempo. Game 7 also saw the return of Anna “AK47”, who showed the team her much improved skills after some secret 1-on-1 training with a mysterious basketball coach. Frank “The Tank” Tran also returned to the line up from his mountain of books and eating himself away in Brisbane. Much to the astonishment of the team, he significantly decreased his tendency to foul. A warm welcome was also extended to Goran Mitrevski, who is rumoured to have played in the NBL back in the day. Goran took no time settling in, confidently dribbling the ball and adding to the Dragons scoreboard.

Game 7 also saw the Dragons taking many tumbles from the physical play by our opposition. Goran, Matt "The Rocket" Fraser and Ben in particular taking the full brunt of the shoves, cleaning the floor with their uniforms as the Trashbags failed to cope with their pace. Similarly, the girls struggled to overcome the defensive mountain of the Trash Bag girls (in the literal sense).

After a pep talk by an inspiring Tiff C, the Dragons were roaring loudly and found themselves on a mission. Down by 1 point with 1 minute left, the Dragons fought hard to land one more basket. One more was all we needed but alas, the ball was stolen. With possession play from the Trash bags, the Dragons felt their first loss of the season. Despite the loss, the Dragons felt assured that finally we may have found some worthy competition and ready to redeem our mantle at the top of the ladder. More importantly, Deloitte proudly lived their motto: play to have fun, play together, play hard, play to win.

Credit must also go to our Game 7 supporters: Sanji “Snoop Dogg” Mahendran, Kexin Cui, and Sue Fraser for their super scoring abilities, professional photography, and cheering.

Next week sees the Dragons pitted against the Modern Drunkards at 10:10pm. We welcome any support!
