Superstition is just that...superstition

Riding a 13 game winning streak, the Dragons entered Round 10 with only one thing on their mind - widening the gap between 1st and 2nd place on the ladder. Entering week 1 of a testing stretch of 3 games which sees the Dragons facing 2nd through 4th place on the ladder, the Dragons were as focused and determined to win as ever.

Playing without Brooke Arrowsmith, who was celebrating her arrival on this planet, the Dragons called in the ever reliable AK 47 Kojevnikov. "AK is as reliable as ever. She's a hard worker and always commits 110%" - Top Cat Cartwright. AK lived up to her reputation, by delivering a much needed inside presence. She was on fire under the ring and grabbed every rebound that came near her. She continuously provided an offensive option, and allowed DK Kang and Top Cat to concentrate on what they do best - score lots of points.

A humid evening ensured that game 8 would be no cakewalk for the Dragons, and it wasn't. Their opponents had all the attributes of a 2nd placed team and came out firing. A tightly contested first half was highlighted predominantly by some excellent shut-down defense from the Dragons. Matty the Rocket Fraser and Big Fella Boyd were patrolling the perimeter like drilled sentries, and the girls were giving away nothing inside the key.

A 14 - 12 half time scoreline in favour of the Dragons reflected the on-court battle. It was tense and the game was there to be won. All that was needed was a game-breaker - someone to step up, hit a few shots and make some plays. Enter Top Cat and Hot Shot Hui. A few big plays later and the Dragons were up 22 - 13. Hui and Tiff were on fire and spurred the Dragons onto an 8-1 run. It didn't stop there. Matty the Rocket and Big Fella Boyd were also on fire, draining multiple jump-shots from 18 feet out...suddenly the Dragons were flying!

The Dragons could sense their 14th straight victory, and executed perfectly down the stretch. Any come back attempt by their opponents was off-set by some excellent passing and finishing. Top Cat once again led all scorers, and DK Kang chipped in with some slashing drives to the basket.

A late Dick Whits rally could not salvage the game from the Dragons, who ran away 34 - 27 victors and enter the Summer undefeated.

Next week sees the Dragons against 3rd placed Team Dawn at 8:30. All support is welcomed. The Dragons extend a special thanks to Sanji Snoop Dogg Mahendran for his support, scoring and camera work.
