Despite loss, Dragons feeling good!
A second successive loss could not lower the spirits of the Dragons. "We have a little bit of rust we need to dust off, and a few kinks that we need to sort, but I think we can really give the championship a push"- Anna AK 47 Kojevnikov.
In recent weeks, the Dragons have seen themselves pitted against 2nd placed Modern Drunkards and 4th placed Mighty Boosh, and both games have ended up narrow margins in favour of our opposition.
Last night's clash saw the lead change on almost every possession, in a tussle that can be described as tough and hard fought, with plenty of bruises and bumps as a result. The Dragons saw themselves down by 1 at the main break (16-15) and believed that the Boosh had thrown their best efforts at us.
The second half was there for the taking, however, was riddled with offensive near misses, as shots bounced off the rim and, despite the rebounding efforts of AK 47, Tiff Top Cat and Chowla, the Dragons could not convert shots into baskets.
An injury to Hot Shot Hui (hand) early in the second half saw the Dragons down to 3 men, and no depth on the bench, which tested their stamina and endurance. Hard running from Sab Tan and some lock down defence from Matty The Rocket Fraser, and some hard running from Frank the Tank ensured that the Dragons kept close to their opposition on the scoreboard, however in the end the Dragons were overcome by a more accurate and better drilled opponent.
"I really think the team is progressing well. I believe we need a few training runs together, which will help us get more organised on defence, and hence lead to more transition baskets"- Captain, and long term injury list member DK Kang.
The Dragons find themselves against 3rd placed Ballbaggers next week at 9:20 in what should be an enthralling and entertaining match. We are out to get a win and ensure we stay in touch with the top 2.
Thanks must go out to our supporters who braved the cold and provided some mightly cheerleading - Sanji, DK, Sue Fraser, AB, Chow's manfriend (Ka Ho), and a special thanks must go to Medhi Naseruddin, who provided the Dragons with some encouraging words of wisdom throughout the game and at half time. The spirit is alive and kicking and the Dragons are thankful for your support.
