Round 2 - vs. MSA Mavericks (18/04/2007)

It begins with a win!

In a highly anticipated first game, the new and vibrant Deloitte Dragons proved their mettle (and extreme all round talent) to come away with a victory over the MSA Mavericks 52-17. Led by 10 points from Tiff C, DK and Ben Hui, and some excellent rebounding from AK, the Dragons’ championship campaign got off to a flying start.

Not knowing what to expect in their first game, the Dragons were a little nervous as they took the floor, and also found out that the men on the team were undersized (with the one exception of David Boyd). But size did not matter in this game, as the Dragons’ teamwork and speed allowed them to get out to a massive 25 point half time lead, thanks to the excellent rebounding work of Tiff C and AK, and the silky skills of DK as she continuously found herself on the finishing end of many fast breaks to rack up her limit of 10 points at a blistering pace.

The second half saw much of the same, with some added highlights from Ben Hui (two 3 pointers) and David Boyd (excellent perimeter and base line shooting). The Dragons were much more experienced and refined than their opponents and found themselves winning in every category.

Thanks must also go to our scorer, AB for helping us during the evening and allowing us to focus entirely on the game.

Game 2 is on 2nd May at 6:00pm and sees the Dragons facing up against the Biosis Growlers, where the Dragons will be looking to make it 2 wins in as many tries. As this game is early in the evening the players would love to see some Deloitte support, so try to get to the game, as it is guaranteed to be full of highlights and sporting prowess.
